I take self portraits all the time, but I rarely do a proper portrait portraits. Even though I am sick today, the afternoon light inspired me to take some photographs of myself. Actually, I was inspired by my sickly feel and that probably shows in the pictures.

Instead of going for the traditional black and white look, I aimed for a dark colour approach, sort of an old painting like quality which I can't explain because I don't have a degree in art history. I draw inspiration from things and pictures that I can not point out directly, it's sort of just colours or feelings that I have, and can't quite put my finger on it. If I were to try, it would go something like this: fever, olives, that old Dutch painter with dark backgrounds, Mona Lisa, glossy eyes, dry lips.

Ps. reinhard-schmid@reinhard-schmid, I left the pictures at their original size, so you can get a look way too intimate for most.
