My forever favourite photographer is the late and great Helmut Newton and his work is what I always circle back to for inspiration.
When I was in Berlin back in 2016, I spend hours and hours alone in the Helmut Newton Foundation Museum, it was probably on a weekday and everyone else was at work so there was hardly any other visitor present. It was a marvellous experience and I often think about the life size prints of the gorgeous models from the Big Nudes series. I especially love the four women walking in formation towards the camera, one image clothed, the other only in heels. Have you noticed that they changed shoes in between images? What a quirky little detail.
Women in Helmut Newtons works are the most glamorous and powerful as women can be, top tier glamazon. I am always inspired by both the style of the women and the style of the photographs in Helmut's works and I quite often pull from those images when I feel like being a glamorous powerful woman.
I wanted to do a self portrait shoot in honour of my birthday and who else could I be for a shoot like that than a Helmut Newton inspired glamazon. I took a lot of pictures and really enjoyed the process so I have more than a few outtakes to share along with what will be my main pictures.
Self portraits shot with the Nikon D750 and Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8.
