More accurately; I finally knitted a beanie that I like and want to wear!
It’s funny that beanies are usually the thing that people start with when learning knitting in the round, since it’s essentially just a tube with decreases at the top. For me, beanies have always been a hard item and I’ve only made couple that I was never happy enough to wear even once, and I’ve been knitting some 15 years at least!
I always thought that I looked like a little boy when I wear a beanie, usually one too big because I have a pea head. The first beanie I’ve actually liked on me was the forest green one you’ve seen me wear nonstop lately, my sister gave it to me because it was too small for her.
I’ve been eyeing some nice beanie patterns on the late, especially the Petite Knit ones, and I finally decided to make it.
I measured my head and laughed at the fact that in the sizing chart my size is ”junior small”. Well, it’s good I guess because it’s faster to do and requires less yarn.
I used two yarns from Sandnes Garn held together, as instructed, Sunday which is 100% merino, and Tynn silk mohair mix. Luxurious I tell ya!
The hat has a really cool construction where the brim is folded and sawn together while knitting, and then at the end it’s folded over once more, so that the brim is 3 layers and super warm.
It took me about 11 hours to make, was very easy and I’m soooo happy with the results. The only thing is that I could have made the hat just a bit shorter but it’s totally fine. I still need to wash and block the hat but I feel like now I have finally found a hat pattern and style that suits me and I can make these in all the colours I could possibly want.
Now you don’t have to look at me with the same green hat all the damn time.
