Maybe you both change a little with the increased interaction. I used to go visit my beloved grandmother as she sat all alone in her house. Her kids would only show up for quick visits when they needed money, they would leave as soon as she handed it over.
She loved to talk and I would engage with her often, which I knew that she enjoyed. Cooking was another thing which brought great joy to her, and she loved it when people asked for seconds. I'm glad that I got to share those monents with her before we lost her, and we both were the better for it.
