Hi there again
Life living in one of the largest slums in Manila is interesting to say the least. People have lived here for decades, birthed all of their children here, survived fires, typhoons and amazing daily obstacles just trying to survive. We, like so many others, had heard about third world slums, but when God in His wisdom moved us into one to live and work amongst the poor…WOW…what an eye opener.
I want to give you a story, a glimpse into slum life, something to open your eyes just a little bit more, something to stir your heart…places like our slum exist because the west does not know that they are here.
BASIC OVERVIEW - our slum is called BASECO. It's in the Port Area of Metro Manila. It's a bit less than 1 square km, with a legitimate 125,000+ people living there.
We live almost in the centre...let the stories begin...
