MARK 14:38
Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. Vs. 38
Scripture says, watch and pray lest you fall. Many Christians believe that after giving their life to Christ or surrendering their life to Christ that is all. But today’s scripture is telling us that we should watch and pray that the spirit is ready to be obedient but the Mr. flesh isn’t ready to take heed to the instructions of the Word of God.
Most Christians fail in marriages, relationships, finances, business, academic because they feel yes, after all, I have given my life to Christ so there is nothing to be afraid of, they’ve forgotten that the devil still roams to and fro looking for one to devour, the devil is never tired of roaming, he is never enough of whatever he has or has got. He still looks for more souls.
1 PETER 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Vs. 8
Don’t just pray, scripture says; watch and then pray. We fail when we only pray without watching. I guess, that is why scripture says, my children die because of lack of knowledge.
HOSEA 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: Vs. 6
We lack knowledge of the word of God that is why we don’t watch before praying. We only pray and because we are not attentive to our environment or surrounding about what is going on, we pray amiss and feel God isn’t answering our prayer.
If you are not watching, what then are you praying about? If you don’t look and see a fault in something then take it to God, what then do you submit before God? What then do you tell Him is the problem of your surroundings, family, nation, state, country and your personnel problems?
God expects us to be sober and vigilant in watching against temptations and sins. Most times, because we fail to watch and notice that there is a fault in us, we end up committing sins we never thought we could commit because we so believe that we are committed.
Because of our carelessness, we don’t know when sins like hatred, pride, envy, love for the things of the world becomes a daily activity to us.
We got to be alert as Christians because we cannot afford to miss the day the bridegroom shall come. We must be watchful because the little carelessness of the 5 foolish virgins made them lose been with the bridegroom.
We must be on alert at all times because the devil never rest. When a runner wants to begin a race, he has to be alert of his surroundings and his opponent.
Be vigilant about your surroundings and your opponent which is the devil because he is trying to win you in this race you are running.
He is ready to use any means he can just to get us so we miss the day of the coming of the bridegroom. Every day, new things and many crafty ways of the devil is been brought into the world don’t feel less concern, you are in the world but we are not of this world.
It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be alerted of those things but only when you are alerted about those things and the ways at which they work will you be able to be free from them.
A man who doesn’t know anything becomes a victim of those things because he lacks knowledge of how they work and how he can ward them of when they try to harm him.
