Broken Statues
Gilgamesh found that death must be his share,
An unguarded heel brought down Achilles,
Even great men, to gods, cannot compare,
All his labors could not save Hercules.
Jesus found in love and truth his death,
And Milton gave his devil a halo,
Joan of Arc showed women can fight Macbeth,
Napoleón could have brought peace, main non.
Übermenschen and comics may abound,
As though mortality is in arrears.
Where can a new moral hero be found?
We must start the search in our own mirrors.
