Midnight Misery
In my weary bed
I twist and turn.
Papa please descend,
And hear my words
In this hour of ache,
Hear me now.
Sail away on the waves.
Bring her back to me somehow.
Empty chair at the window,
And cup of tea
Silent songs echo from you,
Ghosts of misery.
Your tea is drank,
The window has frozen through
Peel back December.
I want to see my sweet June
Oh weeping moon
Over the lonely waters
Can you look across the sea
To see if her heart falters?
I cannot know
From the letters she has wrote
If she ever plans
To board another boat
Well oh my sweet love,
If you don't miss this home,
Then I'll tell you I agree.
The weather here is too cold.
I’ll board a ship, and
Sail away to Spain.
I'll find where you lie,
And make a new home again.
