Let Us Go to Bethlehem
Let us go to Bethlehem.
Leave behind our smooth full pastures
And all that we know.
Let us go to Bethlehem.
The dark quiet city
Covered in snow.
Let us go,
Let us go,
See what has been done in our time
We lucky ones,
If we wait we are blind.
Let us go,
Before the season has shrunk
Beneath the evil tree of man
With it's tempting fruit and trunk.
Let us go to Bethlehem,
We have naught to lose
And all here to gain.
Let us go to Bethlehem,
Where prince and paupers
Brush shoulders conversing as men.
Let us go now,
When the time is still ripe
Let us see the little babe;
Our King,
Our Christ.
Let not wind nor cold dissuade,
Let not beast nor man hinder,
Let the one faint light of God
Be to our flame timber.
The angels sing praise
Hallelujah to God,
And ever lifting His name.
High and mighty ruler,
Loving Shepherd,
And King
The Babe,
The Man,
The Sacrifice,
Let His gospel ring
So now let us go to Bethlehem,
Let us go,
Let us go,
Let us go,
To see that which of no man has dreamed,
For god's as man is no new tale to tell
But this day a new hope has gleamed.
For not even demons in hell
Could have seen this new holy plan,
Of god even lower than mere mortal man,
Poor and helpless,
Born amongst filth and dirt
And so the chains have fallen
Off every slave in the world.
Let us go to Bethlehem.
And see the flesh of the word,
Spoken here first as a whisper,
To soft to be heard.
And so let us go,
Proclaim His name in the streets
Let us go to the world,
To tell of the lambs bloody feet.
