A Face

I stand behind it,
Resolute and ready,
Bows and swords
Poised to strike
Over its fleshly exterior.
It is my wall,
My fortress.
It curls
Into an inconspicuous grin,
Shy but determined.
I lie beneath it
Patiently biding my time,
Uncertain of this world,
Waiting to run free,
Wild with the tears
Of my childhood,
Of my teenhood,
Of my adulthood,
Of my nowhood.
Like raging waters
I beat and strain
Against its cold rocky surface.
It groans and creaks,
But does not give way.
They gaze on unaware.
So for now it will
Stand resolute,
But one day,
Yes one day
This dam will burst.
