Everyday, barrier is broken and new record sets in football, and I am tempted to say that age may well be a thing of the past in football, or more correctly put, a negligible factor.

Some days ago, I wrote about how the 38-year old Ibrahimovic was signed by AC Milan. And to chagrin of everyone he isn't performing badly and have even gone ahead to score his first league goal. Like that's not enough, just yesterday the news of 53-year old Japanese striker who signed 12-month contract with first division club Yokohama FC was aired.

Nicknamed King Kazu, Kazuyoshi Miura now holds the Guinness World Record for being the oldest professional player to score a goal in competitive league. That's huge! Not only that, he's also surpassed the previous record of Englishman Stanley Mathew after becoming the oldest player to appear in a professional match in 2017.

He confirmed his latest signing in an interview with a reporter while declaring that he's gonna make efforts to contribute to the team's successes during his stint there.

"I was able to renew my contract with Yokohama FC,”

”I will make daily efforts to achieve the goal of staying in the division but won’t forget the feelings of gratitude and to enjoy football. I will do my best to be able to contribute to the team’s wins.” source

This is impressive, and I think it's gonna be a while before this latest record will be broken. Until then, let's continue to wish this legend a great stay in his latest club.

Thanks for reading.
