The next holiday I am really looking forward to is the Christmas holiday. Christmas has always been a special season for me, but this year feels even more special because I will be spending it with my husband. We have made plans that I am already excited about, and I cannot wait for the days to roll by quickly so we can finally kickstart our holiday adventure.

This Christmas holiday is also a bit different for us because my husband would be going on his yearly leave around the same period. So, it feels like we are getting a double blessing, Christmas celebration and a vacation from work at the same time. It is the perfect opportunity for both of us to relax, bond more, and create beautiful memories together outside our usual environment.

We have decided that we are not going to stay at home this Christmas. Instead, we want to travel to another state to explore and enjoy ourselves. We are both adventure lovers, though we hardly get time to go out due to work and busy schedules. So, when we saw that his yearly leave would fall during the Christmas break, we knew it was a chance we must not miss.

At the moment, we are still deciding on the exact location, but we already have a few places in mind. One of the top places we are considering is Obudu Cattle Ranch. I have heard so much about this place. My friends who have been there always talk about how beautiful and peaceful it is. The pictures I have seen online are breathtaking too. I love nature, and peaceful environments, so I feel Obudu would be a perfect place for us to unwind and experience something new.

Another place we are thinking about is Ikogosi Warm and Cold Springs. I have never been there before either. The idea of seeing a place where warm and cold water springs meet is very fascinating to me. It sounds like a natural wonder that I would love to experience Plus it seems like a good spot to just relax, take beautiful pictures, and enjoy quiet time with my husband.

Which ever place we eventually choose, one thing is certain, we are determined to make the most out of this holiday. I have already started planning how I want to enjoy myself. I have been checking online for fun activities we could do, nice restaurants to eat at, places to visit, and things to buy to remember the trip. It has been long since I traveled just for the sake of relaxing and exploring, so I am really putting my heart into planning every little detail.

This holiday will just be about me and my husband. We decided to make it a private getaway, just the two of us. We want to enjoy each other’s company without the usual distractions of family gatherings or big celebrations. It is not that we don’t love our family and friends we do. But sometimes, it is important to step away from everything and just focus on each other, especially as a young couple. This trip is about us connecting more, laughing, exploring, and building stronger memories together.

As for how long we plan to stay, we are looking at about one to two weeks, depending on how everything goes. Since he would be on leave for about three weeks, we have enough time to travel, enjoy ourselves, and still return home early enough to rest before he resumes work. We want to make sure we are not rushing the trip but truly soaking in every moment.

Honestly, I cannot wait for the holiday to start. Just thinking about it makes me smile. Life can sometimes get so busy and overwhelming that we forget to pause and truly enjoy ourselves. This Christmas holiday is a reminder for me that it is important to live, to explore, and to make sweet memories with the people you love. I am really grateful for the chance to do this with my husband.

Whether we end up at Obudu Cattle Ranch, Ikogosi Warm and Cold Springs, or even somewhere else entirely, what matters most to me is the experience we would share together. I am looking forward to the beautiful sceneries, the laughter, the little adventures, and the quiet, peaceful moments too. I know it is going to be a holiday to remember for a very long time, and I am just so thankful for it already.
