Life is a teacher, it teaches both poor and rich, humble and arrogant, life is always a lesson and always accept any phase it brings to you.
One great lesson I learnt in this year was generosity and humility, I learnt this lesson which I never knew until someone confronted me and told me everything that I did not know about myself and this lesson really pave way for me this year.
Last month I went with my brother to a company to decorate the office because there is a big event coming up in the company so the decoration contract was given to my brother to handle, I went with my brother and other staffs to help out and to learn more on how to decorate and so on, we got there very early and my brother did the decoration and we left.
The next day the MD of the company which happens to be a woman called my brother to bring something for him but my brother was not available so he called me to take the thing to her, and I must deliver the package to her myself because it is a document, I waited for this woman to come for almost five hours and she kept on saying she was on her way at first I was furious because I needed to watch a program on the TV that day but this woman just delayed me in her office.
The woman finally showed up around 2pm and she apologize to me and requested for the document, I handled the document to her and turned my back to leave, she called me back and asked me to relax and told me that I have an errand to run for her, at first I wanted to tell her that I have something to do at home but my mind just calm me down and I nodded okay ma.
After a while she came to me and requested for my account number deep down in me I was happy that this woman want to gift me money not knowing that it is for something else, the woman transfer 5000 naira into my account and told me to go to market and bought fruits for her, what really amazed me was that day was my first time of seeing her and vice versa because the woman just met me that day.
I agreed to go to the market, when I got to the market I wanted to buy 4000 naira fruits and use the change to buy recharge card for myself but my inner mind did not allow me, I bought fruits worth of 5000 naira and returned back to her office.
When I got there, she was amazed at the quality of what I bought, she was so surprised because the fruits was fresh and plenty, she said in this Nigeria that I can buy something much like this, at this point I was feeling myself because I priced the fruit to the lest price which the big people can never do.
After all that she called me into her office and told me you are a good person and very generous, she told me that she did the same thing to one of her staff last week and the outcome was very poor, that the lady bought small quantity and not fresh, she now asked me "CAN YOU WORK FOR ME" she said I have interviewed you and I was impressed,she said she need someone to trust and can be her personal assistant that we can be traveling together and that can handle her bag very well, I like you to come and work for me, I was happy and impressed, I never allowed the spirit of covetousness to overtake me and I was damn happy.
I learnt a great lesson by not taking what does not belong to me and I saw the reward, it is good to be humble because if I had left angrily that day, this type of luck will be mine or what if I bought fruits worth of 3000 naira, this kind opportunity will not be mine. Learn how to be generous and humble.
