Hello everyone, this is my first post on #HiveGarden Community. Incidentally I also really like gardening, planting flowers and caring for plants. In Indonesia we have a yard full of flowers. However, since I worked in Taiwan. I miss the beauty of the flower and the soft spot on the tip of the leaf in the morning.
Luckily in Taiwan I got a job taking care of my grandmother, she is of Japanese descent and loves flowers very much. We have two small atamans on the balcony and ground floor. Even though it's not that big, with these flowers I can release fatigue, and neutralize the feeling of boredom because I miss my family back home. Especially because of the pandemic situation, I haven't been able to go home to see my family.
Every morning, I water the flowers, for now in spring they only need one water. However, in summer, they need to be watered twice, especially if the temperature reaches 38-40 degrees Celsius. Even if I water in the morning, in the afternoon they will wilt and the part of the potting soil will look dry, so I have to give more water.
My Red Spinach flower
My little plant has several flowers that are my favorite, They are: red spinach Jasmine flower, Pandan leaf, and mint leaf. Because it's the month of Ramadan, where I as a Muslim do fasting, mint leaves and pandan leaves are plants that I love, because almost every day I use the leaves to make drinks or pudding to break my fast.
My Pandan leaves plant
Fragrant pandan (or simply called pandan) is a type of monocotyledonous plant from the Pandanaceae family that has leaves with a distinctive fragrant aroma. The leaves are an important component in the culinary traditions of Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries.
This plant is easy to find in the yard or grows wild on the edges of shady ditches. The roots are large and have a taproot that supports this plant when it is large enough. The leaves are elongated like palm leaves and arranged in a dense rosette, the length can reach 60cm. Some varieties have serrated leaf edges. Pandan leaves are widely used, especially in making traditional Indonesian or Asian cakes.
My Pepermint leaves plant
Peppermint is a plant that is mostly grown in Europe. This plant has been used for medicinal purposes for many years. Peppermint is known to be effective in relieving upset stomachs, and is often used as a main ingredient in hot drinks such as tea. Peppermint is also an ideal remedy for headache relief.
Growing Peppermint is very easy, at first I only got two small stalks from a neighbor, who happened to have this plant. Then, I planted it in a pot that I put on the veranda that was slightly exposed to the sun. Every morning I always water it and today it has grown and has several branches. In fact, several times I've plucked the tip to add to the green tea which becomes fresher if you add mint leaves.
I also have Mouli flower
Some of my flowers are dangling and visible from the road
That's all my story about #MyGarden Thanks for stopping and reading. I am very happy to be able to share my gardening, photography, and my experience life as an Indonesian in Taiwan. See you in the next post. May we all always be given health and prosperity always.
Best Regards
