The Cornell Lab of Ornithology introduces BirdCast, a website providing real-time tools and forecasts for bird migration in the United States. If you have ever wondered when, where, and how far birds will migrate then the BirdCast website is for you.
The forecasts for bird migration are powered by 23 years of radar observations along with the most recent Mesoscale weather forecast for North America.
The migration forecasts are updated every 6 hours and show the predicted nocturnal migration 3 hours after local sunset. More information about the forecasts can be found here.
The US weather surveillance radar network is used to detect the intensities of actual bird migration in real-time. To view the Live Migration Maps click here.
