Resisted earthquakes and floods. He suffered an unprecedented atomic attack 74 years ago. Today, this Japanese city is a great modern metropolis and one of the main tourist destinations in Japan.

After fighting for his health for ten years, after the explosion of the atomic bomb in his city, Sadako Sasaki died at twelve of a leukemia, a disease caused by nuclear radiation. Hiroshima Castle, also called Carp Castle, was the castle where the daimyo (feudal lord) of the "han" or fiefs of Hiroshima resided. The castle was built in the 1590s, but was destroyed after the atomic bombing of August 6, 1945.
