If you walk up to me or maybe in our ongoing conversations drop a comment on anything concerning me, I am that one person that will smiles at whatever you say, good or bad. I try not to process the information at that moment not to change my mood or attitude towards you, I rather go back home to process it ;that's if it is that important but most time I let it go.
well, that was the girl I used to be because now I have had enough of the constant body-shaming comments.

The one reason I dislike coming home to my family house is because of the body shaming comments and random talks, just because most people I grew up knowing may have not seen me in months even years they act all weird, like they were expecting me to stay same way forever.
Especially to the older generation,They can be so blunt and insensitive. It's exhausting.
This has been happening for a long time, I remember when I got Into the university and lose some weight in my first year, I returned home and I got comments like
“You are too thin”, “don't you eat enough “,“Are you the first to go to school?”
I go back and gain some weight and I get comments like
“are you reading at all”, “seems it's the only food you eat in school and you haven't even given birth yet”
I got so used to it that even before they raise a comment, I make sure I raise a remark about my body to avoid feeling a certain kind of way around them and I make sure the remarks end with giggles and laughs.
But now it is different, maybe I expected people to be more sensitive seeing I just had a baby, but that's not even the case because the amount of body shaming I have received these past few days I have been with my parents have somewhat made me too aware of my body changes since I had a baby.

Now I miss and appreciate being with my husband and getting his daily compliments of my body which had made me think less of all the changes going on with my body. Now all his hard work of boosting my morale may have been all for nothing thanks to nosy visitors.
I mentioned earlier my sister had surgery and I had to go be with her, well we are back home and she is recovering fine just not resting enough because we get lots of visitors coming to the house daily to see how she is doing, all thanks to my mother and her popularity in the church and at work.
But these visits are now feeling more like an attack on my body changes than a get-well-soon visit. I didn't want to say anything till my sister and mummy sat me down to apologize for the daily comments, I thought it was all in my head but finally, I got confirmation that it wasn't.
Now it was in the open, I then decide to speak up as the comment are made right there and then, no more smiling and tolerating the heat anymore and it felt good giving everyone who commented a piece of my mind.
You needed to see the way they suddenly became lost for words and concurred to everything I said
so I added some weight and it suits me so well, Changes happen and I am super comfortable and happy with it so far, so everyone just has to deal with it.
Do you get these types of body-shaming comments? How do u respond to them?
