ENGLISH
I keep fulfilling dreams and discovering new horizons. I have gone to one of the places I always wished to visit and that, contrary to what many may think, is inside the country, although like Cuba, it is an island, not as big as it, but it is its second, if we talk about the large number of islands, islets and keys that make up the Cuban Archipelago.
about to board
Since my youth I have longed to visit that place of which fables and tales were told; it was said that at one time it had been the favorite place of corsairs, pirates and that it kept in its interior a great amount of hidden treasures.

At that time it was called Isla de Pinos, because of the large number of trees of that type existing in its territory, but later it changed its name. It was 1978 and its current name was due to the fact that in that year Cuba hosted the XIV World Festival of Youth and Students, so it was baptized as the Isle of Youth.
After the usual conversations, my husband and I decided to accept the invitation of my aunt and her daughters to visit. At last a long-cherished dream would come true and, according to what my husband tells me, he also wanted to go there.
on the plane
One of the limitations to travel to the Isle of Youth is transportation. As it is an island, it is mandatory to go by boat or plane and neither of these means of transportation is to our liking, but if we wanted to go we had to do it in one of them.
With all the desire in the world we got the tickets for a trip by plane and when asked how long we would be in the air, the answer of an islander seemed to be a joke: "You won't have time to finish the candy they give you on the plane. This sounded like a joke to me, but it seemed very good because of my fear of airplanes and the fact that it was my first trip in a means of transportation of this type.

the arrival
We departed through José Martí International Airport and really, when we began to taste the candy, the plane was descending. It took less than 35 minutes to fly from the capital's airport to the Rafael Cabrera Airport on the Isle of Youth.
the family
From the moment we arrived I knew we would have an incredible stay. I was greeted by two of my aunt's daughters and while one stayed there making lunch with the other, we went to visit some of the places we had been told we would love to visit.
the cohinito
We went to the market, the boulevard, the gazebo.
We also visited one of the most emblematic restaurants called El Cochinito, which these days is very difficult to deliver the main dish of the place.
in black sands
Another place we visited was the beach of Arenas Negras. This is a very popular place for national tourists and foreigners who come to the island also visit it for all the mystery and stories that exist about the place.
jose marti
A place we could not miss was the Finca el Abra, the place where José Martí stayed. This is a place converted into a museum and every effort should be made to maintain the majesty and decorum that the place deserves.
Many other places were left for us to visit, but the invitation remained for a longer trip that will allow us to make a more extensive tour of this island of jovial and charming people, who love their land like few others and who fight to keep it clean of everything toxic and that which affects its natural environment.
