He doesn't generally own the rickshaw but he pulls it on hire. A rickshaw puller is quite familiar in cities and towns. He is also a self employed man in our society. He generally wears lungi and shirt and is a very hard working, strong bodied, dutiful and responsible man.
He gets up early in the morning and goes down in the streets with a rickshaw to cary passengers. He moves round for passengers. He is sociable, sweet - voice and gentle in nature.
Sometimes he waits on main roads,at bus - stops or in front of offices and shopping centers. There is no fixed rate for his fare. He charges fare at his will and bargains with the passengers. He is often impolite and rough with passengers.
He pulls rickshaw both in fair and foul weather. He has to starve with his family when the day is stormy on the weather is very rough.
Though he works hards, he leads a very sorrowful and miserable life. His sorrow knows no bounds when he falls ill. He can't educate his children owing to acute poverty. He looks older then his age. He lives in misery and dies in misery / wants. He has to pass his days half -fed and half - clad. He has no dignity in the society. Yet he is happy because he earns honest way.
His importance is very great. Our life is impossible without his honest service. So we should love him from heart. Our government should provide him easy loan to improve his poor condition.
