This is my first take on the topic and I'll put out there my approach: "Human" means SELF CONCIOUSNESS WILLING TO LIVE.
Back then and still in some cultures INTRINSIC VALUE is given to some individuals over otherones, discening their identities by race, ethnicity, religion, power, etc. As they recognice self conciousness in others, eventually HOMO SAPIENS recognice a common identity with other groups and It turns out we declare that all homo sapiens have the same value as they all are self consiousness and are willing to live: they are all human.
The next turning point will include at least mammals, then other species, etc. untill we see self consiousness in existance itself. EXISTENCE IS HUMAN... not just us. Existance has intrinsic value as everything that exist is self consious and it's willing to remain on existence.
So stop being so arrogant and vain by calling yourself "the human species".... dushbags.
