So many people tend to live a care free life in today's world,this include their way of life,their appearance and their behaviour,
But I want to take time to talk about cleanliness.
Your personal appearance Say's much about you,while Jehovah See's what the heart is,humans generally draw conclusions from what appears to the eyes,when u are clean and well groomed, others will conclude that you have self-respect and they will be more inclined and willing to listen to you.your being well dressed will also reflect well on the organization that you represent and on your listeners view on the God you worship
Guidelines to apply,the Bible does not set out many rules about personal appearance but it does provide balanced principles that can help us make sound decisions. Fundamental to all of these is the fact that we do all things for God's glory (1cor 10:31)
therefore,whether you are eating or drinking or doing anything else,do all things for God's glory.
What principles come into play relative to our personal appearance?
First,the Bible encourages us to be clean,both in our clothing and body, in his law to ancient isreal Jehovah set out requirements regarding cleanliness. For example when the priest were on duty,they were to bathe and wash their garments at designated times.
But today,we are no longer under the mosaic law,but principles embodied in it are still valued,especially when we are going to a place of worship or business, our body,our breath and our clothing should be clean,so that other's do not find us offensive. Giving attention to our personal appearance shows our respect for Jehovah God.
Of course,we do not all dress alike,we are not expected to. People have different taste and this is quite proper,but Bible guidelines should always be applied. (1peter 3:3,4)
Do not let your adornment be external,but let it be the secret person of the heart,which is of great value in the eyes of God.
When our hearts are filled with love,joy,peace,kindness and faith that is solidly based,these will become to us spiritual garments that truly honor God.
The Bible urges us to consider if our appearance is well arranged. Something that is well arranged is neat and orderly, one of the first aspect of our personal appearance that people or someone notice is our hair,so it should neat and well arranged.
When it comes to posture, good personal appearance also involves proper posture, we do not all carry ourselves in the same way,and we do not endeavor to conform to a certain pattern,However it is noteworthy that according to Bible usage,standing erect conveys a sense of personal dignity and optism.
What about our equipment we use for work and other things?yes they should be clean too.
Check your appearance
- Is everything clean?
- Is everything well arranged?
- Is your hair well maintained?
- Is there any reason to think that your dressing will offend others?
So everyday no matter what you planned to do,check yourself well, if you are good to go..
