I am sure the title got you in a vibe of conspiracy theory.

But wait, hear me out.

Have you heard of this pattern where most of the commercial companies are validating their sales pitch for the consumers on decentralized chains. However when it comes to secret deployment time, they choose centralized chains?

Surprised? Don't be. Most of the banks in the world are not using Ethereum. They don't use Solana, Polkadot, Chainlink either.

Most of the banks with blockchain technology build their own in-house private chain which only govt auditors have access to. This means public data is only visible as long as these banks and institutions want you to view it.

Decentralized chains make up a good testing sandbox for the blockchain solutions to be deployed into. And that's not all, the large transaction and failure conditions can be tested on such chains.

However if you want control and privacy and security, it's reasonable to deploy on the centralized and private chains.

How can you say that? Aren't you in the side of Decentralized chain? Yes I am but let's face the facts too.

Decentralized chains are Perfect Sandbox

Do you know a lot of people who want to start the business often make use of the facebook groups or the public forums to test the idea. They pitch in ideas on reddit or even twitter. And they want to see if there is any demand for that idea.

Once they get the intial interest, they can build it and then put up for sale. And the thing is that often a lot of such SAAS business take off. And that means internet can be used as a sandbox. This also applies for the decentralized chains too.

You are on say Ethereum to test your game transactions, NFTs and the tokens. But if you want to reduce the bloat and the load internally, you would own yur own chain. Which goes to show you that a lot of decentralized chains are likely to be facing wild west desert sandbox phase in near future.

Centralized Chains need Isolation and Privacy

Let's say you are a bank from the UK and you are deploying your customer transaction on a blockchain which only customers and bank has public access too, while private access remains in the hands of banks.

This can be easily achieved in case of the private blockchains. Here everything would be in control of the banks and the government departments that control the currency and the remittance.

Such type of the internal private chains are valuable when it comes to the deployment of the data, transactions and the customer personal details and holdings. So centralized isolation is often justified on that grounds.

Open World Chain Scenario is Scary

Expecting single chain for entire world is a crazy scenario. I mean imagine everyday we run millions of transactions in every city. And if one city gets the blockchain blockced then entire chain gets blocked for all.

We have already seen such cases with Polygon that too twice, and with Ethereum we see such congestion every other year. So that goes to show that each nation and maybe even each city would need it's own instance of the chain for the control and the reduction in congestion.

The point I am making here is that a lot of developers, startups and the business are going to test the solutions on the open internet and then deploy the private instance of their validated product for the private customers like say govt, banks and others. This gives them validation, data and also security.

Most of us may not like this scenario but it could already be in execution.

What do you think?
