Form 1099-DA : Digital Asset Broker Form for Declaring Crypto Gain
United states has decided to tax business based on the crypto currency capital gains as per their last years notice.
IRS in United states have taken upon itself to find the crypto currency brokers, investors, consumers and have decided to tax them accordingly. They don't want to ban the cryptocurrenc anymore. Instead they want to put them onto the hamster wheel of the taxes so that people give up and end up using the national currency.
So one of the attempt that they are making is by creating a draft form currently named 1099DA. This is the form designed for the brokers, inevstors into the crypto currency industry who are using crypto as a business. So mixers, brokers, exchanges would use this form for the crypto declaration.

What Is Form 1099-DA?
Cryptocurrencies are now part of many peoples capital gains and income like a job. And so govt wishes to tax it. And to do that they need to find a way to declare these assets, their current value vs the reported timed value and losses. So the form 1099DA is inteded to do that work. Think of it as a form for the digital asset declaration form. It is intended for the crypto professionals, centralized exchanges and the brokers.

Who should submit 1099DA and What is there to report?
Currently the following players in the tax regime are meant to use this form : centralized exchanges, brokers, wallet providers, ATMs and the bank accounts that hold the crypto. And this means most of the centralized or fee based services that use the crypto would be coming under this type of the service for reporting nature. And it would also require them to use the 1099 DA form.
Now comes the question what to report and which type of the transactions are coming under the 1099 DA form. Some of the questions to report on are - source of the crypto acquisition, how much fiat was paid, where and to whom it was sold and the total proceeds. How does Form 1099DA adds up work for accountants and softwares?
Yes this new form is a work for the accountants. Because if they are working for business that deals with the crypto then they have too many things to add into their books and they have software to maintain too. There are some of the softwares that are being designed since the notice of the IRS of the crypto declaration. So this would be happening as per the regulation.
Softwares are also going to milk this opportunity as there are many investors in USA that would be using this for reporting the taxes. And it also means that digital assets are no more free and you are not going to enjoy tax free asset income. So in short that would be a start of the new world where the united states consumers and the business would have to use such software to file their crypto gains.
