When I travel I like that I have a little extra time just incase something happens. I like to leave early to the airport even if it means I have to sit in the airport for an hour. Same applies to public transportation. In Stockholm it really works, usually the trains, busses and metro are synced so there is never too much waiting. And even if you miss a bus there will be another like in 4minutes.
Where I come from this is not the case. Well, we really don’t have trains and we definitely don’t have metro. Busses we have but if you miss a ride I can be hour when another leaves.
Working public transportation makes people impatient. Not like i’m the patient person there is either but i don’t get stressed because of a few minutes. I felt extremely amused when we missed a metro and my friend started cussing that:
”Oh fuck we have to wait another one!”
I assumed it would be half an hour or something because of his reaction but then I took a look to info boards that said the next metro is coming in 3min.
Really, are we really in that kind of hurry?
Sometimes there is so much people that it is only sensible to take a little extra time. When we were discussing that at what time we should even be in airport Eve said that:
”I don’t think there is too much people in Arlanda airport, it is Sunday afternoon and everything”
Yet again the assumption was false. Apparently everybody else wanted to travel on this lovely Sunday too!
After waiting in line to luggage drop off, then security check and everywhere else we needed to go there wasn’t too much waiting left. Or so we thought. Our flight was late. So there was a little bit more waiting. Luckily we are not in hurry. After we get back in Helsinki I’m going to stay for a night just to take care of some maybe future business, let’s see if that is going to work out.
It would be so easy to live in capital, or even near it so it wouldn’t take a day just to get in airport if you want to leave somewhere. Now you really can’t even call it extempore as it takes quite a lot planing to even get to the states for leaving. Tho there might be change to coming up for that, who knows...
