Homún is one of the 106 municipalities of the state of Yucatan, in the southeast of Mexico. Located in the south central portion of the state. The municipal seat has the same name.
In Mayan language, the name Homún means literally Five Tender, for deriving from the words Ho, five, and Mun, tender, immature.
