A rare rose
Has fallen into my sight
So delicate
She only blooms at night
I want to water her
Yet her soil seems to moisten itself
Out of the corner of my eye
I see her staring at me, stalking me
She's traveled from a faraway land
Yet, I'm the one lucky enough to find her
I'm talking to her all-day
She's blooming a little more each night
I can see her opening-up
I wish she wasn't rooted so deep
I wish I wasn't so careless
If I was smart I'd do what I could
Transplant her to my porch
Talk with her every day, laugh with her
Share my day with her, my fears and dreams
Keep her as long as life allows
Until I grow old and she withers away
Blows petal by petal into the wind
or maybe her petals will outlast me
and I'll become part of her soil
and nourish her in her final days
Maybe this is all a dream
and the Frail Little Rose
Will never be mine to take home with me.
