HIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL WEEK 138 - ROUND 3 || IYAWO MI BY TIMI DAKOLO
Once again I am happy to be here, and I will be performing the song "Iyawo Mi", a song by the Nigerian musician Timi Dakolo. It is a high-life love music, with great lyrics. Beyond the lyrics, it is a song that sends a powerful love message. "Iyawo Mi" is a Yoruba phrase which means my wife. Timi Dakolo in that beautiful song kept on admiring the love of his life, telling her beautiful things and calling her beautiful names. Amongst all of the love song I know, I think Iyawo us the best when it comes admirations and and sweet words.
The song in question could almost be understood by anyone who understands English. It is majorly written in English language with few Yoruba words. Yoruba is a language spoken by western Nigeria, and it is a beautiful language too. Originally, it is a high-life song. High-life is a Afro genres characterised by high pitched guitar tone, and a unique style of percussion. It is also my favourite music genre. Performing today, I will not be doing it the highlife way. I will be performing an acapella version of this beautiful song, and I hope you love it.
