Computer and internet have affected the lives of people both positively and negatively. Opposing views have arisen on whether they're of people's advantage or not. This issue is definitely arguable, especially between traditional and unconventional people. Obviously, they have different perceptions about this technological revolution. It's pretty hard to determine which opposing views are subject for validation.
My mother, for instance, is a very traditional parent. She's very strict to us when it comes to computer usage. She always tells us that it won't do any good in our lives. Of course, out of respect, we tend to just listen to her for we believe that she knows better in many ways. Until that day when I needed to stop working for my previous job for some reasons, and opted to do a home-based job, she realized that what she used to disagree with is somehow beneficial.
With that, there's still skepticism in her part. This is an implication that people like her, who is used to living traditionally, could not totally perceive the significance of these modern-day technologies. However, if we could just use these for things that are favorable in life, such as seeking for better opportunities, personal and professional growth and the like, there's no reason for them not to embrace these innovations.
As parents, their concerns are totally appreciated, though their views are misinterpreted most of the time. Admittedly, we used to feel like they're the villains and we are the protagonists. It's not about technology-related issues alone, but life in general.
