I started my NextColony adventure on April 22nd, so I'm almost at the 3 month mark. Time for a quick update about my experiences and progress and a preview of the rewarding that should start soon.
Once I started playing the game, there was a lot of new stuff to get to know and skills and buildings to upgrade. Then however the game became a bit boring, since the only thing I could do was to upgrade my explorer skill in order to be able to build explorers in the shipyard. I'm pretty sure some of the early leavers had this as an important reason to stop playing the game.
Once I could build explorers, the game became more interesting again. I was lucky enough to find my Beta planet quite quickly, so that also helped in the gameplay.
The second important step was to increase the corvette skill, in order to start attacking others and steal their resources. Thanks to now owning two planets, it was a bit easier to reach level 20 and I could start attacking neighbouring planets.
Since I kept increasing my resources and number of planets, the game now is quite interesting - not to say addicting - since you really feel you have to keep upgrading, exploring and attacking all the time. I hope next weeks holiday will make me lose a bit of that (unhealthy?) addiction...
So far I own 7 planets (Alpha to Eta), which are all located more or less closely to each other. Below you can see all my planets (and one very close opponent) including their Greek letter. I'd say I'm doing quite well, since I'm on 68 in the ranking.
I didn't invest any of my Steem into quick updates and/or extra resources that were offered by the team. As I understood, 30% of the Steem others invested will be paid out as rewards one way or another. The timeline for rewarding was 12 to 13 weeks from the start of the game, so about now! I haven't seen any announcements yet, but am curious when they will start paying out part of the reward pool. I'd assume, I should get a fair bit being in the top 100, right?
