As I have promised myself I would practice monochrome photography more, today it's another occasion to try to come up with some decent photos.
It's not an easy task if you have some standards because you have to come up with something that catches the eye and you also have to take into consideration that what is beautiful to you, may mean nothing to others as beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
In this photo I tried t capture the tower of the wooden church, with a nice white cloud behind of it.
The roof is shingled and has been renewed recently, which means there are parts that are of lighter color, while the rest is dark. You may not see that on the photo, but the colored version reveals the difference.
Here's a different church tower and roof, not as spectacular as the first one in my opinion, but still nice.
It's not the first place I see this initiative. You can find other book boxes in the city, especially in larger parks, where there are benches where to sit down.
These books were displayed for anyone interested in the fortress I visited last weekend. I find it a very good idea as people go there to relax, have a good time and you can enjoy a good book under the old trees any day.
While I was looking at the books and taking photos, I was thinking I could donate some books I don't need anymore as it's for the community after all.
The sad truth is, hard copies have no value anymore. You can go to an antique book shop and buy old books so cheap you can't even believe it.
I'm a huge fan of recycling, reusing, repurposing and also believe, for every unused item there's someone out there interesting in giving it a new life. The idea is good, but unfortunately there are people who are more interested in destroying than building.
I'm a brick addict and if I am to choose between construction materials, I would definitely go with brick or stone. What attracts me to bricks is the color. That terra color is one of my favorite, but now seeing bricks in black an white is awful. Looks bloody awful, apart from the texture.
I'm wondering if there's someone who likes these brick photos. If you're one of them, speak up, let me know 😃
No matter how scary it looks, I love this window blind. The building wants to bring back the medieval feeling. Back in those days blinds were made of metal and the purpose was not to lock out the sun, but to protect the window and the house as well. This one wants to give the impression of a massive, safe one but I suppose it's just the look :) Anyway, it works for me perfectly.
So this is it for today. I'm not satisfied with a few of the shots but learning is a process and I wasn't born as a photo genius. Also maybe I need a decent photo editor, a free one if possible.
