I used to say nature is the best artist and truly believe it's true. Today however I can confirm that nature is the biggest scam artist.
A few days ago mornings were quite chilly, temperature was dropping below zero overnight. It was not surprising as it was the end of October.
Today it's the 5fth of November, ans at 6 pm, the time of the writing it's 16C outside. This sudden warming up is not exactly normal and can have serious consequences.
I'm not sure for how long this warm weather is going to last, but I hope it won't be long. Not because I don't like it, but because it has disastrous consequences.
There were years when in November we got a week or two of too warm weather and what happened was trees and flowers started to grow buds, then came the frost, snow and temperatures below zero. Plants got confused, taking the warm weather as a sign of spring and started growing. The damage was done and quite many had to suffer the next year.
I'm not a climate activist, but something needs to be done as what is going on lately is far from normal. Global warming is real and I am experiencing the results every year.
Winters are too warm, sometimes we don't even get snow, then around March, when the gardening season has to start and everything has to grow buds, snow arrives and stays till April.
The result of the late snow is that everything freezes and it delays the gardening season with one month. This is a problem because in some years the vine doesn't have enough time to ripe.
What's even worse is the floods that are coming after the snow melts, plus heavy rains that are disrupting everything.
Summers are usually too dry, so if you have a garden and you don't have an irrigation system, chances are you get nothing as seedlings can burn out early.
When I was a kid, we used to have four seasons, four proper seasons. Now we mostly have three as spring is on its way to disappear. It's not good as the damaging effects can be visible.
I'm not a climate change activist, but I think Greta would be proud of me for caring. However, I still think she should quit the parade she's doing and go back to school. Learning something that can help change things would be better.
