I've promised 
I've always loved this granny square style as it's colorful and a lot of fun but have never had the knowledge or the time to do it. Then one day I said if I don't make time for myself then no one will. Knowledge is something you are not born with but learn, so it was just a matter of a search and I found the perfect tutorial for myself.
What you see here is one of my blanket, the finished one and it is made of recycled material, entirely.
The Beginning
My grandmother was a seamstress, I grew up watching her making dresses and all kinds of things for the family and not only. She raised four children and being a seamstress gave her the possibility to feed the family. She was very talented and dedicated in everything she did.
She thought me how to crochet, knit and sew. She was old school, she said a woman must know these things. I was already grateful to her for that as at the age of 16 I was already able to make my own bag and go to school with it where I was the only one with that kind of bag. She also thought me to respect everything I have, not throw away anything as it may come in handy one day.
Over the years I've made a lot of things but this busy lifestyle has stopped me from spending more time with creative projects. A few years ago, before Steem entered my life or wait, was I who entered the Steem life? I don't know, but the bottom line is, before I became a Steemian, I decided to finally start working on a granny blanket.
Recycling Yarn
At that time (as always) I had a bag full of yarn plus a few sweaters that were not in use anymore but could not get rid of them as I knew the yarn is good.
After a thorough inventory I decided there is plenty of yarn and started crocheting. It looks scary at the beginning for those who have never done crocheting but believe me, it's the simplest thing in the world. I've done most of the work by multitasking, watching TV while crocheting.
The Process
There are so many types or granny square crocheting, all beautiful, but I needed something simple to finish it quickly. So I have chosen this Easy Classic Granny Square pattern.
I would love to describe the process with my own words but English is not my first language and my crochet English is non existent, but I made some step-by-step photos for you to show you how easy it is.

Picking the colors and matching them is always a challenge, not to mention the type of the yarn. As I mentioned above, this is all rescue, recycled yarn, I haven't bought a single cm of yarn for this project, so you can imagine the challenge I was facing.
It wasn't an easy job but this made me more interesting and it was fun.
My goal was to make every square different or to not make more than two or three identical squares.
This is an almost finished square, the last color is missing but if you prefer smaller squares, then this can be counted as finished.
After crocheting enough squares, came the most fun part, putting together the blanket.
Imagine a room full of squares and me in the middle of the room, placing squares on the floor, one after another, then changing the place of them, trying to find the best fit.
It was like a huge puzzle game honestly. I believe I spent two or so hours playing this game til I finally was satisfied with the outcome and could start crocheting the pieces together.
Why Crochet

Needlework definitely has become a forgotten handicraft and many still believe you have to be old and in a rocking chair to do it. source
Unfortunately many think like that, even though it's not true. For me crocheting is a form or relaxation, a therapy if you like this expression better. While crocheting, I can think of anything I want, helps me clear my mind, put my thoughts in order or watch TV. Being able to multitask is a huge a huge advantage by the way.
Lucky me, I had plenty of yarn to do two blankets and one (the one on the photo above) is half finished.
I was thinking I could sell one as handmade products are sought after and well paid as well. Maybe I can sell it for Steem :) This is not a joke as it could happen anytime.
