Today is Day 8 of #inktober and the prompt given for today is Frail. I've been thinking what could I draw for this occasion and finally came up with this idea of drawing a bird and some flowers.
These elements, the bird, the flowers, especially the tulip are specific to my region. If you go to a craft market, you'll find ceramics decorated with these elements. It originated from the Transylvanian village called Korond, Corund in Romanian. Those ceramics are handmade and hand painted, you can see that as the decorative painting on them is not perfect.
I've always wanted to try out pottery but have never had the chance. Today however I had the chance to draw similar design as theirs and let me tell you, it wasn't easy. It's the first time I'm doing this and it's quite an experience.
First I made a sketch in pencil, then inked it. The potters don't have this luxury, they have to do it directly on the item they are working on and there's no eraser. Once something is wrong, you can throw the product away. I believe you can learn that by practicing.
It's my first one, so obviously it's not perfect. I had fun drawing it and that's all that counts.
