I stay on Facebook for the same reasons—to promote my writing and stay connected with people I grew up with. The algos favor advertising so much on FB though that your friends rarely see what you post unless they go searching for your content and vice versa. I'm, increasingly, seeing the damage social media has done/and is doing to society. The bot accounts work 24/7 to drive the two ideological extremes further away from each other and keep them fighting. Tim Robbins talks a lot about that in his recent JRE appearance. If you haven't listened to it I highly suggest it. This one really resonated with me!
