Musk's comment on saving for retirement being "irrelevant" was irresponsible on his part. I don't think anyone knows exactly how the future materializes. For his UH-UBI to work governments will need to cooperate and be forward-thinking enough to move quickly to implement tax plans for corporations to fund the UH-UBI programs based in efficiency improvements brought about by AI/Robotics. Even if governments get on board with this they likely won't do it quickly. There might come a day when savings are irrelevant but liquidating your financial safety net during one the biggest transitions in human history wouldn't be a great idea IMO.
