I don't cry often. During my father's illness and subsequent passing I found it hard to believe how my entire being switched into crisis mode and I began laser focused on attending to the things that needed attending to. After all those tasks were done I broke down a few times and the tears flowed. It was the same way when we lost our beagle Amstel. The tears were so healing and sometimes felt like they wouldn't end. It's not that I feel ashamed of crying but it just takes a lot for me.

I've had some very challenging periods the past couple of years as well. On the days when it all feels like too much to bare and it will never end I remind myself that challenging times never last forever. Life has taught me that on several occasions. My faith helps immensely as well.

I not only believe we should allow ourselves to be vulnerable but I feel like it's truly necessary for growth.
