I share your disdain for souvenirs. Most of it is just cheap crap made in China anyway. It astonishes me people are willing to bring this stuff home when it isn't even made in the place they're visiting. When we were in Ireland last year we saw people (mostly Americans) nearly whipped into a frenzy in the souvenir shops. Do you know what I do? When I'm traveling I will pick up business cards from places that I've made great memories in. I use these cards when I come home as bookmarks. Whenever I look at those business cards when I'm reading I'm reminded of the memories.
