Cool that you answered in depth, thank you. I love being in conversation with you.
Disagreement to this could be perceived as delusion, denial, or lack of understanding to one who perceives this perception paradox. Is it a paradox? In a way I think it is.
Presumably it is a paradox. Since it can be said that, in general, man is capable of walking in the shoes of another. So he can. But only as long as his willingness to change perspectives continues and he is capable of grasping a similar perspective in the first place. If not, so he can't (does not want).
... the meaning of life cannot be defined, for it must be experienced by the experiencer. This is well in line with perception, because perception is a self experiential thing, and I propose that it may be impossible to perceive the world through the eyes of another.
I go with your proposition.
Modernity produces its neurotics, that much seems certain. People in modern nations have everything they need in terms of material matters. There is nothing left to be desired and so it's being invented and needs and wants are created for the sake of being active. It started long ago, is what I think. While I perceive a decline in culture, or, what I understand by it.
Culture is being represented not by mega trends but by small units (family, larger family, relatives, village-people). The big nations and societies from nowadays lose their small cells and therefore rituals and traditions which mostly, actually, were work related, like agriculture and crafts. The age of the industrial era works for almost over two hundred years. It has separated the small units and their dependencies on each other, which goes hand in hand with the loss of meanings of common practices as well (like mating, birth and death rituals, for example).
I am watching lately very old documentaries from a German format, they filmed gone crafts and work related activities. It all had to do with food, animals, plants, season and social needs. Big cities are not in the same way consistent in maintaining those activities, as well as specializations don't serve directly and practically a common purpose.
Though, there are also always currents which form new habits, rituals and interests. But I am unsure if those not also are on the way to die out, for the isolation of the single human being seems very much on the go...
My thoughts may seem unrelated to what you mentioned about corporatism but I think the connection is to be found in the word "activity". People like to be active and if that is served by their working spaces in companies, it does meet the purpose. One may work for an electronic devices facility and find his work meaningful and important. At the same time this person curses his other device for it's short durability time...
Fast consumerism and productivity is for sure a phenomena we can observe. But I really don't know if it's all on purpose or ill minded... The drivers of technological innovations can be as nice as they can be nasty. Let's put it this way: I feel better in not listening too much on condemnation towards the powerful and rich. Same goes for celebrating them and their enterprises.
corporate interests have normalized the process through well funded ad campaigns, media campaigns, and probably even have capitalized off of (or influenced altogether?) the covid narrative.
I'd say those interests are a result from a development starting long ago, before all the people, now in charge, were even born. I call it a strong belief in tech and what our species thinks it's capable of. All kinds of narratives (ideologies) were and are created and have their dominant times. The more dominance/unification towards a world view takes place, the less it allows others to co-exist (taboos).
One can walk around and in all confidence (adults) and innocence (kids) tell each other to "be contagious". This is not possible the other way around, you can't say that "contagion is an uncertain theory", people show very strong reactions towards such a statement. I felt it way before covid. I once made a questioning remark about vaccines and the colleague I talked to, almost jumped into my face, so outrageous she found my comment.
Self policing and policing of others is not a very good thing in my opinion, but I recognize it as necessary in some parts of our lives.
Same here. I cannot say everything I think to a random person. But that's the point, no? To get to know and trust each other to overcome randomness. One cannot avoid shocking others totally, otherwise one would have to remain silent ... well, sometimes that is the best option - LOL
... Sorry when I did not refer to all of your points. Right now I have to leave it :)
Greetings to you, my friend.
