Hi dear Mister,

Thanks for another amusing impressions of yours:)
But first: I am referring to this part of your linked article:

“Visibility is key as the sculpture is in the form of a lighthouse, a beacon, a cautionary symbol. In this case an alert to the issues of climate change and the impact on the oceans,” he told the Star.

When art and the artist conform to politics and the zeitgeist, some would say it is corrupted. Artists from the past who became famous broke habits and rules, were often either discredited for it or remained unsuccessful, only later were their works judged differently.

For me personally, art that wants to express a political message is rather uninteresting. If the artist's intention is to have already defined the meaning and significance of his work instead of leaving the interpretation to the viewer, it is more likely to be attributed to the propagandistic intentions of those who give this artist a stage. Maybe even with a plaque underneath the sculpture explaining its meaning... lol

From this point of view, I am not impressed by Chen's works, apart from their manner of making, use of materials, etc. You don't have to find art beautiful or aesthetic to be moved by it. The artist discussed in that newspapers article delivers nothing of surprise for my taste, my eyes have long been accustomed to such sights, from where, I couldn't say exactly.

The "global warming" panic train is rolling and those who are jumping on or wallowing in the suffering that awaits "humanity" are numerous. It all just gets on my nerves, the "world" has been dying since my childhood days and supposedly everything is getting worse.

As I see it, there are two strong currents opposing each other here: The tech enthusiasts who herald a new era of bliss in anything called "quantum" and the aforementioned doomsday prognosticators. Neither appeals to me; I like to distance myself from fantasies of salvation and doom wherever possible. I am, of course, once again turned off by the newspaper article that favours one of these poles.

"Memorials" don't seem to stop anyone at all from repeating things they seek to admonish. The people from the municipal administrations can't seem to hurry enough to "gift" both currents with their artists and art respectively.

So it is all the more gratifying to hear that among the administration there are a few jokers who have a sense of humour and can get away with it. I smiled a lot when I read the sign, which seemed to be a reference to the Dude lying in the park. LOL
The reactions of the people please me in so far as it shows the diversity of views: for some an eyesore, for others an expression of the fallibility of all actions and happenings :) Thank you for this excursion into the artistic scene of your surroundings!

But I am afraid, the "penile delights" are spoiled in favor of causing thoughts of a plague.
