Probably very few average users know who you are or what exactly the witnesses here do.
The purpose of Hive, is that something that can be understood by insiders alone? As long as that's the case, that you need a manual to get behind how the system works here and what it actually stands for by definition by operators like yourself and others, it's unlikely to become a mass product.
What is the purpose of Hive that is more useful? I'm asking for an explanation that I can understand without being technically or otherwise knowledgeable about cryptos. See me as a dumb user, please. I may represent in this dialogue the average Mary.
From this point of view, the developers have not managed over the years to achieve idiot-friendly access or to make Hive's ergonomics and user-friendliness much easier. By the time people have found their way around, those who need a quick start and a simple but attractive user experience are probably long gone. The trending page is as appealing as dry bread (my opinion).
As I understand the "common user", he doesn't want to bother with getting involved in the developmental matters of a platform.
He wants to have fun and make money where possible. He makes also "stupid posts and comments".
I don't see advertising and marketing out there (outside of Hive and leaning apps). I don't see a massive influx. Search engine results don't automatically lead to Hive when some random internet user types keywords like "crypto social media" in there. Page one on Google doesn't show Hive. Which is surprising to me, because usually the search engines list platforms with massive amounts of content (I consider Hive having massive contents). On youtube the same thing: no results.
You operators have certainly enough finances and budgets to pay directly (not through the system here) the needed amount of coders/devs/marketers. Correct?
The major platforms became big because they had little hurdles for user entry or offered small learning curves. The early years were probably also characterized by the fact that the operators were not deaf to criticism and their egos were not affected by it. Why would they? A technician knows that all users (non-techs) are dumber than him.
For example, if Youtube had started heavily criticizing or warning off video upload content in its early years, it wouldn't have gotten to where it is now. Regardless of how one may feel about the content of the above article, it is neither porn nor violence. The manga my son reads is much bloodier - lol. People didn't care about specific contents the early days of the big platforms, I think. It only became significant to start censoring as a platform after it became a player for governments and other big companies.
The danger that users might be scared off as soon as a critical article appears in the trendings is, in my opinion, exaggerated.
For the people who have a more superficial approach to Hive, such content is incomprehensible anyway, whether Kenny's text or your or the dev's responses to it. It's financial-speak that no one who isn't deep into the subject understands anyway. Being annoyed that someone doesn't understand the finer nuances of finance, what's the point?
It seems like some kind of power play to outsiders. The title of this article is both cryptic and uninteresting to the normal user. Nothing about it particularly appeals, because no one reasonably familiar with the subject matter would recognize such a headline for what it is or may be. So you are talking among yourselves.
When I use the Hive Blog, I can't even find my own articles in the search screen,
even knowing the exact keywords. I had asked here and there those who should know about it, but apparently my question has not been answered. This disinterest on the part of the technicians I think is damaging because the dumbest user thinks such things are important and is annoyed that no steps are taken in all this time that the search function is so miserable here. People depart for the most simple reasons, often of technical nature. Not so much because of the contents, is my theses here. It maybe even hold users here to get their popcorns or to engage themselves in politics. Or for gossip reasons.
I see a pattern in the reactions from operators and developers. They (you) seem exceedingly annoyed by technical ignorance or ignorance in financial speak. However, I have not seen professional platform operators anywhere else publicly mocking this or worrying that ignorance of functionality and finance might be damaging to their platform.
On the contrary,
operators who are serious about user experience listen to their "dumbest" voices
because they offer them a view of their own product and a perspective that their own expertise makes it difficult for them to take. So you can want to explain for the hundredth time something that is perfectly plausible to you, but you lose even intelligent readers, because I don't understand any technical and financial shortcuts nor processes.
Why not look whether the critique may carry some important point? You may do that, but I don't know. You don't show it for the "dumbest ones".
