If we've come to terms, what point is there to keeping silent about coming to terms?
It really depends on the terms ;-)
On my part, the poem decided against silence.
The poem is an expression of my folly, committed in the youthful existence of being convinced of oneself. I merely parroted what had been parroted to me.
If I send a prayer into the space of wishes (the near and far environment), I can be sure that this wish will be heard by someone. The better I seem to know that this wish is justified, the more convincing I appear.
But since the recipients of my wishes have a thousand and one possible interpretations, if I do not formulate very precisely and exactly what and how this wish may come true, it is like the fairy who spirits away the legs of a man who wishes for a long dick down to the ground. Where a man dying of thirst in the desert wishes for "water, nothing but water!", the great magic puts him in the middle of a roaring sea, because that seemed to be the wish, didn't it?
Where I begin to specify a wish very precisely, to contemplate on it, I will find how difficult, indeed how impossible, it is to arrive at this kind of precision, the mental realisation will encounter contradictions on many sides, and when I have thought a wish through to its absolutely possible end, the following happens: I abandon it because it seems wiser to do so and see the wish dissolve into thin air (I may better not speak or utter it out loud). I come to the realisation that this fierce longing could very well be fulfilled, but comes with a bag of biting fleas. To say the least.
But as my prayers are heard and my own fervour is taken up by others, we hear the mighty canon thundering, "Oh, may we be freed from pollution and mass production!" And voilá, we create the iron posts and steel borders on a kind of unimagined scale, sacrificing ourselves for the "great plan". Not realising that this may be very much merely the fulfilment of our desires.
I came to my former terms, and I can't take them back, can I? I can pretend that my words and actions are without meaning, but they are not. I can wish that our earth would be better off without us humans, only I should know that as soon as I form a choir to sing such, it will fall on listening ears.
Can I make myself having no such desires?
My silence, if I choose it, because I realise that my speeches could do a mischief undreamed of by me, nevertheless does not let my longing stop, it does not matter whether I wish aloud or silently. I realise that any wishing can simply stop dominating me and probably that is the only form of not deceiving myself.
HaHa, I know, between the two of us, that my response will not scare you away and so I dared to give this answer. Could have made it shorter, though.
