It seems that the legal system has included the venial and mortal sins in its paragraphs and is, so to speak, the consequence of the Christian commandments in written form. Probably the most difficult thing about this whole set of rules is whether an accused person or sinner considers himself to be sinful or guilty in this way. Perhaps that is why in films you so often see what the accused pleads in court, whether "guilty" or "not guilty". Whereby, of course, the paradox immediately arises here that if he considers himself guilty, a trial would basically no longer have to take place, right? And the judge then only has to determine the sentence.
Spoken rules and prohibitions, i.e. those that are written down and directly incorporated into the language, have the great disadvantage in comparison to unspoken rules that they are discussed differently, in a rather hostile atmosphere or at least one that challenges constant contradiction. As it seems, the interpretation is sharper, haunted by stronger conflicts, more confused and altogether less artistic than those rules which, precisely because they are not spoken about, can make themselves felt and asserted in an indirect way. Where the direct wants to be enforced, the indirect does not need it and becomes understandable by itself and reaches the recipient without all the hassle of conflict.
The element of the anecdote and the equation, the art form of telling real events, the poem, the music, the song, the ritual, all are both entertaining and, as it were, spiritual elements that make me understand, make me agree with what ethical messages are contained in them. Any "Thou shalt" or "Thou shalt not" brought to me without an everyday occasion, without a connection to my personal existence, only achieves that I resist it, do not understand what it has to do with me at all and where all the missionaries come from who want to judge me. It's like being surrounded by missions and missionaries who always seem to know exactly what is good and what is bad in a world that has only learned to command and obey. Judgments are passed on everything, and one wonders who is actually on trial.
I am therefore grateful that your article has nonchalantly restrained itself in this regard and does not display missionary zeal or otherwise point fingers at sinful thoughts and actions.
And I also like the humorous note in the beginning of your text :)
