I understand. I have followed the financial crisis when it first happened and all the talks about Greece and politics. You are right, the people really did not need something on top of it. For people who were used to a certain kind of freedom, the events in the last twenty years were shockingly enough and one could sense, where it was heading to.
You could say there was something in the air, I realised from my old notes and unpublished audio recordings that I had been worried. But I never imagined that something of this kind would happen, although it could have been suspected. The anger and despair that can be felt, as well as a kind of "I see and hear nothing", are all things that are very difficult to deal with. I have never faced such a challenge before. For you, who feel the aliveness on your bike and your journeys, it must be much worse. I am wary of those who tell me that I have to decide "for or against". There are things in life that you can't make a decision about. To have to do it anyway, or to be forced to do it, is like a betrayal of oneself.
Good morning from here.
