On the way to replacing real life with the internet, there is a rip current that seeks to take those who do not want it with it. I live a very secluded life at the moment, but even before that I did very little in terms of going out and typical metropolitan "culture" offerings. Still, I miss going out to restaurants, but especially the street festivals and flea markets that no longer take place. I am happy to say that I led quite a busy life, interspersed with travel, up until my forties. There is no feeling that I would have missed anything now. Nevertheless, I am not free when there is a lack of freedom around me.
Yes, I read on your blog that you don't read many books. If you do find the time, I'm sure the "Zen .." book would be as extraordinary a read as the one you described.
I agree, some things are lost in translation, we know that when we speak more than one language quite fluently. A lot of things can be expressed quite well in English and the difference in expression for non-native speakers is also, I have been told, an attractive change from the usual for them. Greek is completely foreign to me, but I like to hear it.
The musician I talked about is no other than the writer of Ghost Rider, drummer and lyricist for Rush, mr. Neil Peart.
Ah, thanks, you said so and I have missed that connection.
If you would ever write a book, would it be about your real life experiences and the stories you picked up from the people you met? The way you talked about your friend, who died, gave me a certain sense that it would be a good one. Of course, publishing it in your language wouldn't reach a huge readership, as you already estimated.
