being good is not that simple

Yes, isn't it. It's more difficult than one may think.

I think we are so obsessed with being good, so interested in what other people think and say about us, that we look too much at the conscience of others and are deceived by the fact that there are much better people than ourselves who sacrifice themselves or work hard to become good.

I can follow your train of thought, although sometimes I would like to hear a bit of practice, i.e. experienced stories from you, some examples that bear witness to what @vieira has experienced. But I sometimes forget that this is a public platform and not an intimate epistolary friendship. To which I would have no objection :)
