First of all, I am very glad to hear that in your place the people do not bother too much with the regulations. I find it important to know, so I really appreciate this information of yours. You could make a post about your observations, it'll give people hope.

Do you think that, if all this ended, if there were no more masks or regulations, it would be easier for you to get your job back or get a new one? Is there no indication that they are going to remove at least some of the measures there in Germany?

Yes, it would be easier to get a job without the regulations or to have kept it. Getting it back doesn't seem to be an option, for the relationship between me and my contractor is disturbed. I see only little indication of re-movement of the measures, it's a game of losen and tighten, as the government sees it fit. They are determined to have the majority of the population being vaccinated and as long this does not take place on a massive scale, there won't be any relief. People who are pro-vaccination are mad about those who are anti it, and they think that it's the people who are responsible for the never ending endurance of the measurements.

I cannot report that masking and social distance have become less in public institutions, only in the open street I can observe the same you do do in your place. Though people are really tired and displeased by the whole situation and are in a constant state of anger or sadness.

Personally, I have been re-evaluating my work as a whole and I notice how I have now built up an inner resistance to the demands of the authorities that I always helped my clients to fulfil before. The demands for social cash benefits are getting stricter and more absurd and where before you already had to provide a lot of documents and data, proof etc., it has become even more intense. Officially, one speaks of "facilitated application procedures", but this belies the fact that the pressure on the social funds has increased and such things, which are currently being worked off at full speed and granted on one side, are being taken away again elsewhere.

The government first makes its own people dependent on social benefits, only to make it particularly difficult and complicated and to perceive the condition as unworthy. This forces people to look for any low-paid jobs and the unemployed now push to where they are cut: to work in big corporations. Because small and medium-sized enterprises have to give up under the current conditions and bankruptcies are piling up, but the full extent of the economic effects is still being capped (protracted insolvencies), we have an artificial limbo.

I suspect that to date the biggest employer is the federal government and the corporations. Setting up one's own business in Germany involves so many requirements and financial commitment that ordinary mortals cannot afford it and have to employ a large number of experts who know the conditions.

People like me fly under the radar because I don't pay taxes, because I earn so little that I'm below the official rate.

Basically, we can only support each other and when I said to a client the other day that my time at the institution would probably run out, he asked me if he could pay me privately. I replied: Yes, that is possible and for those who cannot afford it, I will also accept a home-cooked meal. I might, I don't know yet, be able to earn a small income by word of mouth from my current or former clients. Inevitably this will involve personal change and my man and I will get married, move in together and he will be the main breadwinner. Plus some other changes that would be too many to list here. You can only live on small money if you have a small rent. But in the metropolises, rents have risen so much in the last thirty years that it basically forces you to have higher-paid work. But since salaries do not rise accordingly, one is once again dependent on the state social purse, the so-called " accommodation subsidy".

But basically I see it as not wanting to help more welfare recipients to get their welfare as well, but that I think it's time to take care of other things and strive for a life where work is rewarded with work and income is only a part of life. The biggest obstacle to this is the cost of rent. Unlike in the US or Canada, it is difficult to buy a piece of land and build an off grid existence without bank debt. But such would be necessary to cut corporations off from their increasingly grasping earnings opportunities.

In summary, one could say that the destruction of the labour market and the rise of material poverty is a logical consequence of constant growth. That one could basically even be in favour of people losing their jobs, their income, so that they feel motivated to move from single households back to multi-family homes. As is the case with me now. But what do people do who already live in families, but where there is no breadwinner and everyone is dependent on social welfare? There is a constant shift between precarious jobs with big companies or government-provided jobs.

I know, the picture I painted, may be wrong, because, as I say, I am speculating. I am hoping for alternative movements, small scale solutions. I will find my niche, I guess, as always. And if not, I must rely on my social net, which I am willing to do and they are willing to provide. In the end, it's all relationships. It's the best net and double ground one can build up during ones life.
