I think none of us live in a common reality. This common reality exists only in beginnings and in the efforts to create this reality daily anew with others. It is difficult to live with this knowledge and to watch how so many others feel the urgent desire to create a one-line reality for all equally. Since this will never really succeed absolutely, since it goes against every nature we find on our planet, often only mental hostage-taking helps to continue to believe that unity can come into being, where multiplicity is the very basis of all life. Of course, if you look at short periods of time, you often see dominance, until one thing takes over completely over another thing. And yet then the dominant must also die soon, for it cannot continue to exist without the multiplicity. Yesterday I freed my mini garden in my balcony box from the all too rampant clover and pruned it back to a minimum. I did this to give the other plants a chance for light and space. So I became a murderer of a species in order not to deprive others of their prosperity.
One could erroneously apply this analogy directly to our human life and say: Yes, so it takes forces acting on an ecosystem to prevent the dominant from spreading. But all too quickly one forgets that my mini-garden in no way represents, cannot represent, the big picture, because how can that be possible when the mini-garden is a part of the big picture? The self-regulation of a system can only be fathomed to a limited extent, but cannot be understood or analysed in its perfect dimension. Every analysis is like a laboratory observation that produces conditional knowledge. Beyond all conditional knowledge and convictions, things happen that are beyond human control.
This, in turn, could tempt us to resign ourselves fatefully to all action and research.
There are many prisons and I certainly locked myself up in many cells, because I assumed that I would be safe there. I could already be wrong in my assertion that I consider a one-line world view to be not only harmful but very dangerous. So, in order not to become the dogma of my world view, I must always reserve my own doubts and move in my reality to the best of my knowledge and belief.
