The ridiculous thing is, the status quo is changing rapidly... therefore there is no status quo.
Even crypto is most likely going to be useless if the electrical grid gets shut down. If you can't at least charge small devices and somehow connect to other people then what good is it? Food, water and heat come first.
Throughout history there have been times where people have had to create IOU systems of money based on trust and the value of their labour.
The UN have said regarding peoples meat rationing that it will be one mouthful of meat... per person... per day. Even if you are a vegetarian, this is going to cause a lot of problems.
