I know that HiveBloPoMo is done 2x/year. traciyork@traciyork hosts these 30 day challenges in November and April. I know several other challenges which host 2x year like LEDA (Live Every Day April/Augst) which is for livestreamers. So, there are a couple of examples of folks doing challenges more than once a year.
