El batazo que define a este deportes es sin duda el cuadrangular, el batazo de cuatro esquinas, es la conexión que todos queremos ver, las personas que asisten a un estadio, pagan una entrada para ver un espectáculo en donde incluye ese momento en específico, la cual su jugador preferido da un home run, por ley, por mencionar una palabra, cada jugador que se para en el home, hace un esfuerzo por realizar dicha conexión con la convicción siempre de sacar la pelota del parque, atrayendo así las miradas de todos y logrando uno de sus cometido, que es, ser el máximo jonronero del equipo.

El máximo referente del béisbol para todos siempre ha sido Babe Ruth, sus 714 cuadrangulares durante toda su carrera por mucho tiempo fueron la meta para los jugadores, para poder así convertirse en el líder jonronero de este deporte y ser reconocido como el mejor, trabajo duro para Hank Aaron y Barry Bonds, este último con mucha polémica para estar en este selecto club de los 700 que solo ellos tres se dan el lujo hasta ahora de pertenecer a él.

Los de mi época recordaremos siempre la temporada de 1998 en MLB, cuando el dominicano Sammy Sosa y el norteamericano Mark McGwire protagonizaron una lucha por ser el máximo jonronero en una temporada, fue todo un espectáculo, la cual culminó 66 para Sosa y 70 McGwire; números que quedaron marcados en las historia de una temporada, pero que no es seria suficiente para estar entre los que pertenecen al club de los 700 cuadrangulares de por vida.

Sus ya 693 cuadrangulares alcanzados en este 2022, son dignos de admirar, solo está a escasos 3 cuadrangulares de otro jugador de mi época como lo es Alex Rodríguez, y conforman un grupo de peloteros excepcionales que solo se vieron en los 90’ y los 00’, cuyas capacidades a pesar de las polémicas creo fueron y serán únicas a la de otros, destronando registros muy difíciles, sé que algunos dirán que haciendo algún tipo de trampa, pero les digo algo, para poder sacar pelotas del parque hay que pararse en el home plate y pegarle, porque de nada te sirve tener mucha fuerza y no tener la vista y el contacto para la conexión.
